Connections
Pray for leaders and volunteers who
will commit to starting this campus. Especially pray for more college and
20-somethings to commit. Pray for us to make connections with college students,
young professionals, people in the Honolulu and Kakaako area. Pray for those
who will be part of our Citywide Campus who we do not know yet:
- People who will come to know Jesus through us in the near future
- Followers of Jesus sensing God's call to reach people for Jesus through this new campus
- People who can lead, disciple, and create community
Leaders
Pray for wisdom as we develop our
leadership team. Pray for leaders who will commit to building community, doing ministry, living out discipleship as a lifestyle, and sharing Christ.
Pray for people to sense a call to
lead small group Bible Studies (Small Groups) at the University of Hawaii, on
college campuses, in the downtown business district, in Kakaako, and areas that
surround Honolulu.
Pray for us to be a church that
perpetuates a culture of growing Gospel-centered leaders who will be sent out
to impact the world with the Gospel. Pray for faithfulness in giving
leaders a vision for how God can use them in ministry, missions, church
planting, and by using their talents to share the gospel.
Worship
Leader
Over the last few months, we have
prayed for God to bring us the right worship leader. There have been several
people who have inquired about leading worship for Citywide. There is a highly
qualified person who will make a great leader--not only from the music standpoint
but also from a spiritual leadership standpoint. Want to give this person time
to think through, ask questions, and seek the Lord before giving a definitive
answer. Excited about this possibility. Please keep this in prayer.
Pray
for me (James)
There is a lot I'm wrestling through
as I seek God's guidance on how to lead The Gathering in Mililani and The
Gathering Citywide. We are praying for both campuses to flourish and have effective Gospel witness.
Pray for God's wisdom as I
re-structure my days. God has called me to follow Him first and take care of my
marriage and family. I need God's wisdom in effectively structuring my days so
that I can be a faithful husband, father, and pastor.
Although there is a lot of excitement
and support for our Citywide Campus, we are still in a nebulous stage. I
apologize if there appears to be a lack of leadership, vision or direction.
During this time, I am genuinely trying to sense where God may be leading this new campus.
I humbly ask for your prayers during this time.
Other areas to pray for:
1. Sunday worship service (Ideally, we would like to have these to be in place by September 11, 2016). Let
us pray for God to fill in these areas while we faithfully work at filling
these areas. If you feel led to serve in these areas or know people, please let me know.
- Set up crew: Prepare area for worship--set up chairs, tables, media, whatever it takes to create environment for worship. Also set up children's classrooms.
- Take down crew: Take down what we set up and leave the facility better than when we came.
- Sound and media team: Sound, set up media, recording worship services, possibly video.
- Ushers: Make sure that everything goes well during worship--quality control. Also collect offering.
- Welcome/Connection Team: Welcome, inform people where to go, answer questions, pass out bulletins.
- Finance Team (count and record financial giving)
- Childcare and Children's Church: Kristina
- Prayer Team:
- Worship Band and Worship Band Leader: We may be getting close
- Preaching/Teaching Team: James is primary pastor/teacher.
2. Raising up of small groups which will be vital to growing people in Christ, building community, and ministry.
3. Small group leaders and meeting locations. These are the
primary small groups we would like to have in place by September:
- On-campus at the University of Hawaii
- On-campus at Hawaii Pacific University
- Somewhere near the University area (Makiki, Manoa,Kaimuki)
- Somewhere in Kakaako area (To reach those who live in the area)
4. Pray for small group locations in:
- Waikiki
- Downtown Honolulu (During the work week)
- We need to be open to starting a small group wherever people are coming from
5. Pray for outreach
points
- University of Hawaii Campus
- Hawaii Pacific University
- Kakaako: Where people live, high rises, restaurants, stores, entertainment areas, etc.
- "Intentionally" reach International Students
- Downtown Honolulu
